Travels

Well, we are soon flying to London to see my wife'e brother and his wife. Should be an excellent time. Travelling by train to Amsterdam for 4 days then back to London for the remainder of our vacation.

This will mark the first time we've travelled away from Nate and Erin, so I imagine it will be a little tough. They are staying with the Grandparents (on both sides).

I've proven myself woefully inept at writing ablog, probably because I'm not too witty but more of a smart ass. I've got to try and suck it up because I'm sure there is plenty to right about at least weekly.

Holy Crap, I can't believe I wrote about a stupid dream....

the dream

I rarely remember my dreams. You ever wake up from one that makes you go, "huh? Where the heck did that come from." Well, last night I woke up in the middle of a very strange one. My best buddy told me I should put it here. I think he wanted me to embarass the crap out of myself. Anyway...for now suffice it to be known as the one about the zombies and the mini giraffe. With a special cameo appearance by my friend BK (get your mind out of the gutter, of course he was fully clothed!)

Dammit

I was a dumbass and lost my plane. I was flying it when it was slightly breezy and it carried too high and blew it far away and I couldn't find it. Rats. How stupid am I? Wait, don't answer that.

The Easter Toy

I bought the coolest little toy for my son (okay, it was really for me) for Easter. The best part of being the father of a little boy is getting to pick out all these cool toays and then getting to play with them with him and occasionally getting one that's really for me!

Now I love flying. I used to be a little nervous on airplanes but I got over that. Otherwise I love airplanes. I love fluid dynamics. So this toy I bought is, you guessed it, an airplane. I'd been eyeing this little thing at the local Target store for about two months. I finally found my excuse, Easter.

This little thing is fun. For about $30 you get a very simple rechargeable remote controlled airplane by Air Hogs by Spinmaster. It's made from a very light but durable plastic foam. It doesn't fly the greatest, but it does fly. I had it up about 70 feet high, which is above the trees in my yard.

If you like flying, I highly recommend this toy.

Brown Hound

Okay, he wasn't really a hound but above is my good friend J'Mocha's Chocolate Jacob. He was a Chocolate Labrador Retriever. He made lab people out of my wife's entire family...Jake went to the great duck blind in the sky on November 9, 2005.

Hopefully he's doing double blind retrieves all day long. He used to love to jump or as I called it "Boing!" I'm 6'3 and he could look me in the eyes when he jumped. Jake was strictly prohibited from jumping on anyone but he loved to jump. When he jumped he would go straight up and down in one spot (just like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh - hence Boing!)

Anyway, I don't have loads to say other than I miss my old brown friend terribly.

Sorry to be a downer. I've been debating putting him here and decided I'd go ahead and do it...

And then there were two...

I live in central Indiana, conservative bastion of the US. Change is feared here. Funny thing is many people are about to go through the biggest "change" they've ever experienced. Daylight Saving Time hits most of Indiana in about 4.5 hours from this typing. The local newspapers have been egging on the naysayers and yet, we barrel onward toward our inevitable merging with the modern world.

So why "And then there were two?..." Well of course there are still Arizona and Hawaii that have not embraced DST. Why? I don't know. In Indiana it seemed to be farmers working during daylight hours and our relative western position relative to the rest of the Eastern timezone and the fact that parts of the state were connected to major cities in the Eastern time zone and others were connected to the Central timezone.

Then there are those of us that have longed for DST because in the summer the sun will set only a little before 10 PM and we can enjoy outdoor activities after a day's work. Most of us are getting tired of the whiners complaining about everything. The newspaper seems to have isolated the 16 people who give a crap and place a new interview about how this is ruining their goatranching business because the grass will burn from the extra hour of daylight.

Anyway, I'm glad it's here.

T+1...a.k.a. The Day After Yesterday

Well, here I am again. My BI-L can't seem to get in. Not so sure what's up with that. Maybe I'm the only person that can see this! That makes it all the more interesting and strange.

Anyway, boy did I have a lousy day today. I was out of my office for some training yesterday. Man did all Hell break loose in my absence. It seems that if I am gone Murphy takes over my seat and wreaks havoc on everything - or at least makes everything I'm running behind on come to the top of everyone else's pile. Okay, well really, I wasn't late it's just that things suddenly hit a higher priority while I was gone. Man I hate that. I got through it, but man can it be frustrating when it's happening.

Today's Non sequitur

Have mentioned that I love enchiladas? I love them all. That gooey weird white Mexican cheese. Is that like Monterey Jack? I know it's awful for me but I love it. There's this place near my home that makes the most awesome enchiladas with a Southwest flair. Man are they good. Wait a minute, I take some of that back - I don't do shrimp enchiladas. Blech.
